How To Market for Local Service Businesses

This is what I did to grow a home service company from 0 to 300k in just 18 months. The key to scaling any local service business is localized marketing. 

Matt’s Review:

Okay, I would be interested to know what his service business is. Just because $300,000 

divided by even 2,000 customers is 150 bucks per customer. So I don’t know what service they’re selling but that seems like a pretty low-cost service that they’re doing. It’s car detailing or something like that. I don’t know what the service is. But regardless of that, I think he is correct. Most local businesses do a very poor job of marketing. They rely on the people they’ve already worked with. The people who happen to see their location when they’re driving around or word of mouth. But they don’t spend any effort on outreach via local ads, flyers, mailers, all that kind of stuff. They may do one of those things every now and then. Or one thing and not any of the other things. But they get very lazy and complacent and they don’t spend much money on marketing. I see it all the time. So if your goal is to build your business and you got nothing but time because you don’t have any customers yet, what you should be doing is all the marketing. Have a website, do online ads, do social ads, do mailers, do flyers, do door-to-door. Put signs on your vehicle and drive around. Put yard signs out. Do anything and everything you can to keep your name in front of people who are likely to be your customers and you will start getting them. And then as soon as you get them ask them for referrals, ask them who else they know that you should work with or talk to, and drive the marketing hard. That is what’s gonna help you grow your business. Now if you wanna continue to grow you gotta continue to do the marketing, expand your territory, expand the reach of your marketing, etcetera. But if you wanna grow, whether you’re brand new or you’ve been doing it 10 years, you gotta be out there in front of potential customers so they see you, they think about you, when they need you they call you. Otherwise, they’re gonna call whoever they last thought about or last saw. And if that’s not you, you’re not gonna get the call. You’re not gonna get the business. And that is how you can survive and thrive in any business. A local business even more so just because most of them do no marketing. So just by virtue of the fact that you’re doing marketing, you’re already ahead of the game.
