Will This Product Make the Best Cup of Coffee?

In this video, Matt reviews another IndieGoGo campaign. This time it’s a startup looking to launch a ‘new’ pour-over coffee brewer. Watch to see if Matt will now change his coffee order.

CapForge has worked with 1000+ ecommerce businesses and other small businesses and has seen some great products out there!

In this series, we look at new products on the market and see if they are worth investing in. Think along the lines of Shark Tank, but with no real money involved just for fun.

We love simplicity, but some things can be more complicated than they need to be. Take pour over coffee for example. I love pour-over coffee but I don’t love making it. Especially before I’ve even had coffee. Most people simply want to enjoy a great cup of coffee. All of these extra steps are to deal with problems that arise from pouring water onto a loose coffee bag. So we set out to create the easiest way for you to make great pour-over coffee every time. And here it is. Simple Smart Coffee Brewer. It’s the world’s first encapsulated pour-over brewer.

Matt’s Review:

The idea is if you really like pour-over coffee but you don’t really like the process of pour-over coffee. I’m wondering how much of an overlap that is. Because I feel like if the idea is you want to simply have a cup of coffee, you’re not doing the pour-over cause that takes a bunch of work. If you’re really a coffee snob, or you might say aficionado if you’re on that side of things, then you might not mind all the steps. Because you wanna be in control of how it all comes together. And you might not be looking for a simple solution. If you’re looking for a simple solution you’re not doing it in the first place. So the actual overlap of people who want pour-over coffee but don’t wanna deal with pour-over coffee might not actually be that big. I mean there’s billions of people who drink coffee so I’m sure they can find some who are gonna be interested in this product. That said they only have a goal of $3,000 and they haven’t hit it yet. Seems like a pretty modest goal and they haven’t achieved it. This might not be something that screaming for a solution. But we’ll see. I suspect that this is never gonna be a huge winning product. But it might find a tiny niche of people who are in those overlapping circles that want pour-over coffee and don’t wanna deal with pour-over coffee. So good to find a specific target, but also when you choose your target you wanna make sure there’s enough people in it that you can find them and successfully sell to enough of them to make the whole thing worth it.
