Business Advice Video:
If you allow it you encourage it. So if you leading, when I get into companies, I start coaching the companies. One of the No. 1 problems is the leader, just like the leader allows all this mediocrity, it’s like hey, man, we don’t do that here.
Matt’s Review:
I guess the point of that was that good leadership sets the standards. And poor leadership is mediocre. They don’t provide good leadership. They don’t provide standards, designate clear rules and expectations. I would agree with that generally. I mean I think as a leader you have to not only think about what you want from the people that work for you but clearly communicate that. Set clear standards. Set clear goals. Set clear expectations. And then you can hold people accountable. To the extent that you’re not clear, your wishy-washy, you’re just silent on it, you expect or assume that somehow people are gonna figure it out without you telling them. You’re gonna get mixed results or poor results. So I guess if the message is good leaders set clear rules, expectations, and standards then I would agree with that. If you’re planning to lead somebody or a team or a business, then think about what you want and make it very clear and explicit and lay it out and make sure that it’s communicated. And then you can hold people accountable to those standards.
