If you’re apprehensive about spending money on Amazon ads because you fear they’ll be completely ineffective, we’ve got news for you: you should be.
According to Commerce Signals, 40% of all media ad spend is wasted.
It’s not that ads don’t work. It’s that ads are costly experiments if you don’t know what you’re doing.
It takes time to learn how to organize ad campaigns, target the right audience, choose the right keywords, and monitor performance. And if you’re like most online sellers, you don’t have the time (nor the budget) to learn how to do this on your own. Fortunately, there’s a better solution.
There are companies that specialize in Amazon ads and can manage your campaigns for you. Because some things are best left to the pros—like bookkeeping 😉
Below you’ll find our list of the best ad management services for Amazon sellers.
If you do a Google search for “Amazon ad management services” Quartile is likely to be one of the first results that pops up. That’s because they’re one of the biggest Amazon PPC platforms on the market, with over 2,300 clients that include Burt’s Bees, Clorox, SodaStream, and Continental.
Lending even more credibility to their name, Quartile has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Business Insider, Bloomberg Businessweek, and The New York Times. Perhaps more impressive, the company was also featured in a case study featured on Amazon’s own website.
“Quartile uses its proprietary software that leverages the Amazon Advertising API,” the case study reads. “Through the Amazon Advertising API, Quartile’s software solution can access performance data for sponsored ads campaigns at scale. Their software uses the latest performance data to make real-time changes to their campaigns based on performance.”
Unfortunately, Quartile does not list pricing information on their website. They do, however, have a demo available upon request.
Perpetua is Quartile’s biggest competitor. The two companies are similar in the sense that they both offer AI-powered software designed to optimize ad performance.
Like Quartile, Perpetua has its own list of big name clients, which include Crocs, Kimberly-Clark, Beekeeper’s Naturals, and Cartograph. While they may not have attracted quite the same level of press, they do have some notable investors, such as Cherubic Ventures, Founders Fund, Conversion Capital, and SV Angel.
Here’s what you’ll get when you choose Perpetua:
Unlike Quartile, Perpetua’s pricing is available on their website. They charge anywhere from $50-$500+/mo depending on the seller’s monthly ad spend. One thing we love about Perpetua is that you can cancel at any time with no commitment. This is particularly important for seasonal sellers who may only advertise during certain times of the year.
Seller Labs doesn’t offer anything too terribly different than Quartile or Perpetua. They too use AI-powered software to optimize ad spend and drive quality traffic.
And while they may not have a fancy list of clientele or major press coverage, one thing that does set them apart is their pricing. Their monthly pay-as-you-go plan is $49/mo, while their annual plan is $39/mo ($120 yearly savings). Unlimited usage. Unlimited marketplaces. And no extra fees. Pretty cool, eh?
But what’s really cool is that they offer a 30-day free trial. For $0, it’s certainly worth trying. After all, what do you have to lose?
Up until now, we’ve mostly discussed large, well-known companies, but that’s not to say you should overlook the little guys!
PL Prominence is a small firm run by David Goldstrohm, a successful entrepreneur who owns several private label brands. He knows first-hand how to build a profitable ecommerce business from the ground up because he’s done it himself—and he can do it for you too.
His services are a bit pricier than the competition ($300/mo for PPC optimization), but keep in mind that you’ll get a real person working on your campaign—not just a software program. It’s a customized approach that can give you an advantage over other sellers.
If you are more of a do-it-yourselfer, David also offers a training course where he teaches you everything he’s learned about ad optimization so you can copy his methods and do it on your own, saving you on the monthly recurring cost. You could also leverage this knowledge across multiple stores or even offer consulting services of your own if you grow to love it.
Another big player in the game is Teikametrics.
They set themselves apart from the competition by pairing integrated AI technology with managed services. That means you’ll get personalized support from data-driven analysts who can help you set goals, develop your campaign, launch ads, and more.
Like the aforementioned companies, Teikametrics also has some top-notch clients, including Dickies, Reef, Clarks, Splenda, and Conair. But what we like most about the company is that they have a proven track record of driving results. Power Practical, for example, saw a 266% increase in ad sales after using Teikametrics. Razer experienced a 96% growth in ad sales. And Swanson saw a 100% increase in their total sales.
Their pricing is reasonable, with their lowest-tier starting at just $59/mo for small- to medium-sized Amazon businesses. However, one thing you’ll want to be wary of is that they tack on an additional 3% ad spend fee for campaigns that go over $5k.
WebFX has some seriously impressive stats. To date, they’ve managed more than 650 campaigns, created over 355,000 unique ads, and generated over $2.4 billion in revenue! But those stats come with a high price tag.
Whereas many of companies discussed thus far charge somewhere between $50-$60/mo for their lowest tier pricing plan, WebFX’s basic plan starts at $1,000/mo. Here’s what’s included:
The biggest difference between WebFX and other Amazon ad management services is that with WebFX, you’ll get your own dedicated Amazon Marketing Specialist. You’ll have to decide whether having personalized expert support is worth the higher price or not.
At the end of the day, we firmly believe that you can’t go wrong with any of these companies. Why? Because the time and money they will save you will more than offset the cost. Add a higher conversion rate on top of that and it’s easy to see how you can end up getting more by spending less.
Remember what we said at the very beginning of the article? About 40% of all media ad spend going to waste? Don’t let that be you. Make the smart choice and invest in an ad management service. It will pay off in the end.
